After many years, there are some constant themes that parents, especially new ones, find helpful to review.

  1. When you child is cranky, take his/her temperature.
Touching the forehead does not define a fever. Electronic thermometers are easier to use with a fussy squirming child than the older glass ones. Inexpensive thermometers are found at all drugstores. Do not use the tape thermometer or the ear.

  2. Vomiting regime

  3. Diarrhea regime

  4. AAP vaccine and immunization schedule 0-6 years (pdf)
AAP vaccine and immunization schedule 7-18 years (pdf)
AAP catch-up vaccine and immunization schedule 4 months-18 years (if starting late or more than 1 month behind) (pdf)
(note that your insurance contract may contradict  or change some of the actual vaccines we may give.) These schedules may change at any time, without notice!

  5. Permission to treat form (pdf) used if your child is being cared for by grandparents ore daycare and you are not available to sign for their treatment. Keep it in the diaper bag or on file at school.

  6. Growth chart for boys and girls.
boys, birth to 36 months (pdf)
girls, birth to 36 months (pdf)
boys, 2 to 20 years (pdf)
girls, 2 to 20 years (pdf)

  7. Disaster preparedness-
the Red Cross Guidelines for water, food and medical supplies stockpiles in your home.

  8. Registration form (pdf)
